Base Salary
$290k - $360k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the architecture and technical roadmap for Replit’s agentic commerce platform.
- Lead end-to-end purchasing experiences through Replit Agent, including intent interpretation, pricing and terms, authorization, purchasing, and fulfillment verification.
- Build extensible integrations with merchants, software vendors, and service providers.
- Extend Stripe and other payment capabilities to support new purchasing experiences.
- Design agent-facing APIs and tools with secure credentials, scoped permissions, spending limits, and confirmation controls.
- Partner with product and security on role-based access, approval workflows, purchasing policies, and auditable transaction histories.
- Own the lifecycle after checkout, including provisioning, access, order and subscription state, renewals, cancellations, refunds, receipts, and reconciliation.
- Improve transaction reliability through idempotency, verified events, durable state, safe retries, and partial-failure recovery.
- Lead ambiguous cross-team initiatives, define milestones, mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and own production operations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated Staff-level technical leadership on complex customer-facing products or platforms from architecture through launch and production operation across multiple teams.
- Strong hands-on engineering and system design skills, including API design, data modeling, distributed workflows, and evolution of existing systems.
- Experience building extensible third-party integrations and handling asynchronous events, duplicate requests, partial failures, and changing provider capabilities.
- Strong product judgment for simplifying complex multi-step workflows while balancing delivery speed, correctness, and flexibility.
- Security-conscious experience with authentication, authorization, credentials, sensitive data, and actions performed on behalf of users or organizations.
- Ability to align engineering and cross-functional partners on technical direction and drive execution without relying on reporting authority.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving architecture, implementation, and operations beyond individual projects.
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining responsibility for code correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Preferred experience with commerce platforms, marketplaces, purchasing or procurement systems, or multi-vendor products.
- Preferred experience with agent tool calling, multi-step agent workflows, reliable-action evaluations, payment lifecycles, enterprise purchasing controls, Stripe, payment providers, developer platforms, or partner integration ecosystems.
- Bonus experience with agentic-commerce protocols, MCP, delegated authorization, catalogs, pricing and availability, entitlements, automated provisioning, recurring or usage-based costs, renewals, international purchasing, or multi-provider transactions.
