Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, review, and maintain reliable power systems software applications.
- Build applications supporting utility operations, smart grids, and distributed energy resources.
- Apply power system studies, modeling, simulation, optimization, and numerical methods.
- Support EMS applications including load flow, contingency evaluation, state estimation, operator training simulators, and power system simulators.
- Collaborate on planning, development, testing, quality concerns, technical issues, and schedule risks.
- Contribute to retrospectives and continuous improvement of the software development process.
- Work across Linux and Windows development environments using relevant programming languages and tools.
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
- A master’s degree or foreign equivalent from a four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems is required; a Ph.D. is a plus.
- Candidates must already have work authorization permitting employment with Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Experience with software development, debugging, and performance tuning is highly desirable.
- Solid knowledge of power system studies, operation, modeling, simulation, optimization, and numerical methods is required.
- Familiarity with EMS applications such as load flow, contingency evaluation, state estimation, operator training simulators, and power system simulators is advantageous.
- Proficiency or experience with C#, C/C++, Java, Python, or FORTRAN is beneficial or required as applicable.
- Experience developing in Linux and Windows environments is beneficial.
- Experience with power system data models and standards such as CIM/XML is beneficial.
- Spoken and written English proficiency is beneficial or required as applicable.
