Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate capabilities within Wise’s Continuous Delivery platform.
- Evolve Spinnaker and contribute improvements upstream where appropriate.
- Build reliable deployment guardrails that minimize manual effort.
- Improve shared platform foundations with other Platform Engineering teams.
- Use telemetry, reliability metrics, and engineer feedback to identify platform improvements.
- Work with engineering teams adopting new deployment patterns and platform capabilities.
- Contribute to technical design, code reviews, documentation, and the development of other engineers.
Requirements
- Strong experience building and operating production systems in Java.
- Experience designing distributed services and APIs, including testing, monitoring, and failure handling.
- Practical experience with AWS or GCP.
- Experience with containers and Kubernetes or a similar orchestration platform.
- A track record of automating operational work and building repeatable tooling.
- Experience owning shared or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Ability to turn complex requirements into understandable, maintainable solutions.
- Experience discovering complex problems across multiple teams and business functions.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Spinnaker or another large-scale CI/CD platform, SRE principles, observability tooling, cloud networking and security, regulated environments or PCI DSS, capacity planning, performance testing, load testing, and technical documentation.
