Responsibilities
- Build and own the Medical Knowledge Platform for grounding clinical AI decisions in validated medical sources.
- Design and maintain indexing pipelines and retrieval systems with end-to-end ownership of the retrieval stack.
- Architect and optimize systems handling more than 100 million documents, 50+ requests per second, and sub-300ms latency.
- Build custom re-rankers and optimize query-processing pipelines.
- Design robust retrieval evaluation frameworks.
- Engineer deep RAG systems beyond off-the-shelf components.
- Develop systems involving vector embeddings, vector search, re-ranking, query expansion, and query rewriting.
Requirements
- Proven production experience building and scaling search and retrieval systems in high-traffic environments.
- Deep expertise in both offline indexing and online retrieval, with ownership of the full pipeline.
- Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, Vertex AI, vector search, embeddings, re-ranking, and query processing.
- Experience building custom re-rankers, optimizing indexing pipelines, or engineering technically deep query-processing solutions beyond commodity RAG.
- Experience operating at Senior or Staff level with substantial autonomy and technical depth.
- Preferred experience with medical knowledge sources, clinical databases, or healthcare information systems.
- Preferred experience creating retrieval-quality or AI-output evaluation frameworks and benchmarks in regulated or high-stakes environments.
- Preferred experience with multilingual retrieval or domain-specific ontologies.
