Responsibilities
- Design, build, secure, optimize, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure supporting Depop’s platform.
- Create software, automation, and platform capabilities that improve scalability and enable engineers to self-serve.
- Define and strengthen edge networking and security for company domains.
- Participate in the on-call rota and help ensure service reliability and system health.
- Mentor developers and help them take ownership of service operation, performance, and availability.
- Drive continuous improvement by measuring, automating, and iterating on platform systems and processes.
- Collaborate with developers, platform engineers, and security experts to support application development and deployment.
- Promote security best practices and compliance across infrastructure and operational processes.
Requirements
- Experience defining, securing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure, preferably with AWS.
- Working knowledge of continuous integration and deployment tools and practices.
- Understanding of distributed systems and network infrastructure design.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, ideally Python or Golang, plus Bash scripting.
- Experience consuming RESTful web services and writing clean, tested code.
- Interest in building secure, reliable, and scalable systems.
- Product mindset with attention to user outcomes and data-driven decisions.
- Ability to solve problems, prioritize competing demands, adapt to change, and contribute to continuous learning and process improvement.
- Preferred experience operating Postgres or another major RDBMS at scale.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes, CDN and WAF providers such as Cloudflare or Fastly, HashiCorp Vault, and modern Linux system internals.
- Mentoring experience is desirable.
