Responsibilities
- Design and implement reliable, scalable backend services and data pipelines.
- Develop and maintain backend applications primarily with Python and SQL.
- Build data ingestion services using APIs and batch file processing.
- Modernize legacy manual and spreadsheet-driven workflows through automation.
- Develop internal dashboards and services for real-time operational and business visibility.
- Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, data quality checks, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues and contribute to reliable production deployments.
- Create automation that reduces manual investigation and enables internal self-service.
- Collaborate with product, analytics, operations, and data teams on technical solutions.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, technical direction, roadmap planning, and front-end development using HTML, HTMX, Jinja templates, and Python-based rendering.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with demonstrated backend proficiency.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience designing and developing production backend services and scalable distributed systems.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, with PostgreSQL preferred.
- Experience with Snowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse and data-driven applications.
- Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS CDK, or similar tools.
- Strong API design experience involving REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
- Understanding of microservices architecture, authentication, authorization, and secure service design.
- Experience with unit and integration testing and production deployments.
- Comfort with HTML, HTMX, Jinja templates, and Python-based front-end/server-rendered development.
- Ability to independently own technical work and lead technical efforts across teams.
- At least B2-C1 English proficiency, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Preferred experience with Apache Airflow or another data pipeline/orchestration platform and with React, Next.js, Angular, or JavaScript.
