Base Salary
$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable components of distributed systems and optimize them for large-scale data processing.
- Build fault-tolerant components with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented design.
- Create performance, load, fault-injection, brown-out, and functional tests to evaluate scalability, reliability, and correctness.
- Develop alarms, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures to detect and resolve failures.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in support rotations and incident response, and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Implement troubleshooting automation, infrastructure-management tooling, replication and synchronization mechanisms, and change-management procedures.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance practices, and documentation standards for multi-tenant cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate across teams, track work with limited supervision, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5+ years of software engineering experience building reliable services, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Strong programming skills in at least one systems or backend language such as Java, Go, Rust, C, C++, or Python; Rust is a strong plus.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, concurrency, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
- Experience or strong interest in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, Linux systems, containers, storage, networking, security, schedulers, control planes, or management planes.
- Ability to design, build, test, and debug reliable software in a large, evolving codebase.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, problem-solving, and continuous-learning skills.
