Responsibilities
- Define team goals, priorities, and technical direction in alignment with company strategy.
- Design and implement complex technical solutions and influence engineering guidelines and standards.
- Own large technical features from design through completion, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Build scalable, reliable, observable, and resilient distributed systems for the Partner proposition.
- Lead complex projects and discovery, make technical trade-offs, and reduce technical debt and complexity.
- Mentor engineers through pairing and code reviews and model engineering best practices.
- Improve partner experiences across lead routing, onboarding, appointments, and partner business management through experimentation and data-informed decisions.
Requirements
- Experience with Go is preferred but not essential.
- Proven fluency with Postgres, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
- Solid experience building distributed systems, including concurrency and event-driven architectures.
- Strong understanding of system resilience, observability, uptime, SLAs, and progressive degradation.
- Ability to deliver end-to-end solutions from design through build, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling, Terraform, and modern cloud workflows.
- Experience mentoring mid-level engineers and working in autonomous, product-focused teams.
- Familiarity with Kafka and database migrations, such as CockroachDB to RDS, is a plus.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and ability to work in an agile, iterative environment.
- Hands-on experience with AI development tools and openness to AI-assisted software development.
