Base Salary
$266k - $445k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build foundational systems for detecting, tracking, and enforcing harm on OpenAI platforms.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts to inform system design and implementation.
- Automate and augment the detection and reasoning of complex harms with minimal human intervention.
- Partner with policy, trust and safety operations, legal, investigations, harm-specialized engineers, and data scientists.
- Monitor emerging techniques and tools to stay ahead of adversarial actors.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience in backend and data systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in trust and safety analysis, investigation, and/or operations.
- Ability to understand an existing codebase and identify improvements that strengthen engineering systems.
- Strong willingness to learn missing skills and communicate knowledge clearly and concisely.
- Comfort working in ambiguous and rapidly changing conditions.
- Machine learning experience is a plus but is not required.
