Base Salary
$146k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead features for the mapping system from architecture and design through backend and user-interface implementation.
- Architect and develop geospatially distributed backend services and data pipelines for complex map data.
- Build responsive WebGL-based web applications that translate complex datasets into intuitive user products.
- Influence the team’s technical direction and roadmap while mentoring engineers through design reviews and collaboration.
- Participate in code reviews and improve system architecture, reliability, maintainability, and code quality.
- Partner with cross-functional and operations stakeholders to deliver software that improves mapping efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of industry software development experience owning and delivering complex features from design through deployment.
- Deep full-stack experience architecting scalable backend services and developing complex modern WebGL-based applications using frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Hands-on experience with API design, Python-based geometric algorithms, cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, AWS, Kubernetes, Buildkite, and monitoring or alerting systems.
- Strong UX sensibility and attention to detail, including the ability to advocate for user experience decisions and match implemented interfaces to design specifications.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, product ownership, judgment, and ability to balance rapid development with long-term maintainability.
- Experience with UX design for safety-critical or mission-critical applications is desirable.
- Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or complex hardware/software systems is desirable.
- Ability to scale workflows and pipelines is desirable.
