Responsibilities

  • Design, build, document, and maintain server-side services, REST APIs, integration endpoints, and system architecture for AI-enabled applications.
  • Design and manage data storage solutions, server-side data structures, reusable code libraries, and well-tested backend code.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and security controls for HIPAA-regulated environments, including secure handling of PHI and PII.
  • Optimize services for speed, scalability, latency, stability, uptime, and production reliability, and troubleshoot defects and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with product managers, QA, integration engineers, frontend engineers, and design teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Follow change-management and backup practices before making significant production changes and comply with applicable policies, laws, and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 5 years of professional backend/server-side software development experience.
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with Python, FastAPI, and asynchronous frameworks.
  • Ability to design scalable, high-performance backend systems and translate business and product requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to independently manage system reliability, uptime, production stability, security, privacy, scalability, and compliance.
  • Preferred AWS experience and knowledge of modern containerized deployment practices and CI/CD.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with agentic or LLM-integrated services, relational or NoSQL databases, and healthcare or other regulated environments.
  • Preferred AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Developer certification.
