Responsibilities
- Participate in software development lifecycle activities including scope and work estimation, architecture, design, coding, unit testing, debugging, and maintenance.
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured datasets in operational environments.
- Translate customer needs into user stories and deliver working capabilities at the conclusion of each sprint.
- Develop data models, database designs, data integrations, and geospatial or enterprise platform integrations.
- Support AWS and container-based operations and contribute to secure, reliable mission-critical services.
- Mentor software developers and participate in or lead sprint demonstrations and retrospectives.
- Communicate technical challenges, options, and recommended solutions to team leads.
- Collaborate with product teams to resolve technical impediments and support direct customer engagement and escalation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Active Secret clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain it within the onboarding window.
- Strong Python experience with Polars, Pandas, and Pydantic, including JSON/XML processing.
- Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and applying data engineering concepts.
- Experience with Git or Subversion and Agile lifecycle tools including Jira, Jenkins, JUnit, and GitLab.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, or Oracle, plus data modeling, integration, and database design.
- Practical AWS and container technology experience, with familiarity with DevSecOps frameworks.
- Experience integrating geospatial systems and enterprise data platforms or APIs such as ESRI and ERDDAP.
- Preferred experience includes large-scale ingestion and analytics workflows, data orchestration, governance, metadata and lineage, DataHub or Amundsen, Kafka or Kinesis, time-series data stores, AI/ML enablement, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Podman, Terraform, CloudFormation, IRODS, Spring MVC, Java, Java Servlet, C++, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, TypeScript, Selenium, and Citrus.
- Preferred experience includes DISA STIG checklists, cybersecurity best practices, AWS cost and performance optimization, meteorology or oceanography data, and direct customer support.
