Responsibilities
- Own the team’s technical evolution and long-term architecture for enterprise-scale data movement, governance, resiliency, and data health.
- Lead major Jira Platform architectural initiatives from strategy and milestones through delivery, adoption, and customer outcomes.
- Define and drive a 12–24 month roadmap for shared platform primitives and make prioritization trade-offs.
- Improve reliability, performance, observability, security, and operational excellence for systems handling critical enterprise data.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, deep investigations, incident reviews, and high-risk problem solving.
- Mentor Principal and senior engineers and drive complex cross-organizational initiatives through influence and senior leadership buy-in.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
- 4+ years of experience providing architectural oversight and technical leadership.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL datastores, preferably PostgreSQL and OpenSearch.
- Experience with data streaming using Kafka or Flink and CDC eventing.
- Ability to drive complex step-change initiatives across distributed, cross-organizational teams and secure senior leadership buy-in.
