Responsibilities
- Design and implement software applications controlling electron microscopes and analytical instruments.
- Develop and debug embedded software and hardware involving bootloaders, RTOS, Linux kernels, drivers, and ARM hardware.
- Implement communication programming using RS232, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, and USB.
- Apply object-oriented design patterns, data structures, algorithms, microservices, containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, and test-driven development.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, domain experts, and international teams while supporting team members.
- Travel occasionally, approximately 5–10%, for collaboration with global teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus five years of commercial software development experience, or an advanced degree plus three years of experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Strong proficiency in modern C++, C#, or Python.
- Experience with bootloaders, RTOS, Linux kernels and drivers, embedded software, hardware debugging, ARM architecture, and IDEs such as Eclipse, IAR, or Keil.
- Experience with unit testing tools such as gtest or cppunit and Python programming.
- Knowledge of Git, CI/CD tools and practices, automated testing, test-driven development, microservices architecture, containerization, software configuration management, defect tracking, and peer review.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, collaboration, and independent-working skills.
- Ability to understand complex technical and scientific requirements and communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
