Responsibilities
- Design and develop power electronic software and specifications for motor controls in power tools and outdoor products.
- Conduct motor control MIL simulation and testing in MATLAB for motor and lithium-ion battery systems.
- Generate application-level embedded code from model-based designs and support unit and coverage testing.
- Lead development of a Speedgoat-based HIL test system and collaborate with motor and hardware engineers on digital power HIL models.
- Build and validate HIL, SIL, and MIL verification environments for model-based design goals.
- Develop software verification and validation procedures, including unit and integration testing.
- Translate customer requirements into software specifications and resolve complex electronic system issues.
- Support cost, performance, and quality objectives while maintaining appropriate technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited electrical or automation engineering college is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least five years of embedded firmware research or product development experience.
- Experience designing model-based-design embedded software platforms for power tool products.
- Proficiency with MIL, PIL, SIL, and test automation for model-based design.
- Knowledge of motor control techniques including FOC, trapezoidal control, sensored control, and sensorless control.
- Experience writing and debugging embedded microcontroller software in C/C++, including code generation and BSP/HAL.
- Experience with closed-loop control and feedback systems for AC, DC, BLDC, and PMSM motors.
- Familiarity with static analysis, version control, unit testing, and bug tracking processes.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage two to three concurrent projects.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
