Base Salary
$120k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build resilient Layer 2 and Layer 3 network topologies optimized for V-BAT mission profiles.
- Implement custom routing, TUN/TAP interfaces, user-space tunnels, socket-level applications, traffic shaping, and link failover in embedded Linux.
- Build bandwidth-optimized, low-latency communication paths over lossy or constrained radio and satellite links.
- Write production-grade C, C++, or Python software that interacts directly with the operating system networking stack.
- Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, and field operators to validate end-to-end network performance in HIL labs and flight-test environments.
- Troubleshoot network degradation using low-level diagnostic tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years.
- Strong proficiency in C, C++, or Python in a Linux environment and experience shipping software that interacts with the OS networking stack.
- Deep knowledge of Linux networking fundamentals, including netlink, IP routes and tables, iptables/nftables, TUN/TAP interfaces, network namespaces, and socket programming.
- Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, custom routing protocols, VLAN tagging, QoS and traffic management, and VPN/tunneling mechanisms.
- Experience troubleshooting networks in lossy, high-latency, or bandwidth-constrained environments using tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, iproute2, and iperf.
- Track record of shipping products and delivering high-quality solutions through development cycles.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
- Preferred: experience with embedded Linux networking applications, Yocto, OS-level customization, RF and hardware engineering collaboration, robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, edge computing, network security, PKI, and cryptographic tunnels.
