Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, document, test, qualify, and support embedded software products, systems, and subsystems.
  • Develop embedded software, PC tools, utilities, device drivers, and networking or communications protocols.
  • Execute work across the software development lifecycle and influence system design architecture for robust operation.
  • Determine hardware compatibility, influence component selection, and support hardware and software integration.
  • Develop prototypes to retire development risks and support design-to-cost and design-for-manufacture requirements.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements and develop designs and system modifications to support them.
  • Prepare design documentation and procedures for building, installing, and maintaining software.
  • Lead technical activities and independently lead technical projects while reporting progress and status.
  • Interact with users and customers to define system requirements and necessary modifications.
  • Develop test plans and procedures and qualify software for customer release.
  • Collaborate with, lead, or direct the work of others as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering technical field, or at least five years of experience with an unrelated degree.
  • At least three years of real-time embedded software experience, including experience with RTOS, Linux, and bare-metal embedded systems.
  • Experience with embedded device drivers and interfaces including TCP/IP, UART, I2C, SPI, PCIe, MIPI, and 1553, preferably on Linux.
  • Strong understanding of multithreading and multiprocessing concepts, implementations, and debugging techniques.
  • At least three years of strong development experience in C or C++.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Experience with hardware startup and troubleshooting, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware-software integration is desired.
  • Experience with Linux or VxWorks and the ability to develop test plans and procedures are desired.
  • Experience with software configuration management, static analysis, defect tracking, peer review, and continuous development and integration tools is desired.
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance, strong analytical and communication skills, independence, and the ability to collaborate or lead are preferred.
