Responsibilities
- Design software and hardware test plans and procedures for spacecraft systems, sensors, avionics, thermal systems, and autonomous guidance, navigation, and control.
- Develop and improve software testing infrastructure for emulators, spacecraft hardware, developer testing, and automated testing.
- Execute manual tests involving spacecraft hardware, expand automated nightly regression tests, and report software defects and regressions.
- Create automated reporting that maps test outcomes to subsystem-level requirements.
- Benchmark spacecraft performance across flight modes and investigate anomalous software behavior.
- Manage test regressions, resources, repositories, acceptance testing, requirements traceability, and test metrics as needed.
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, technicians, and other experts to resolve issues found during spacecraft software testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree, ideally in a technical field.
- At least five years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency with object-oriented programming and scripting languages such as Python.
- Ability to build and test distributed software and/or hardware systems.
- Ability to lead anomaly investigation activities involving multiple experts.
- Knowledge of formal software verification and validation processes is beneficial.
- Experience with Git, Docker, QEMU, Linux, embedded operating systems, MISRA-C, spacecraft communication protocols, electronic test equipment, electrical circuit dynamics, environmental testing, and spacecraft control, thermal, RF communications, avionics, and power systems is beneficial.
