Senior Software Engineer (Engagement)
MorningstarResponsibilities
- Analyze and troubleshoot application performance issues and design solutions to resolve them.
- Design, develop, and implement scalable features for new and existing products.
- Test applications and verify logic, syntax, and outputs.
- Document code, architectural changes, and procedural, modular, and database-level modifications.
- Own product modules and drive them from requirements scoping through production launch.
- Own key architectural services and coordinate upgrades and enhancements with engineering peers.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Mentor junior team members and help them complete assigned work.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to refine work in Jira.
- Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other development activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 6 years of professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of experience developing cloud-native applications with Azure.
- Expertise creating APIs with .NET Framework or .NET Core and REST principles.
- Hands-on experience with relational SQL databases.
- Experience with Vue, React, or Angular is preferred.
- Experience with non-relational databases such as Raven or Cosmos is preferred.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development and SOLID principles.
- Knowledge of CI/CD processes and their integration into development workflows.
- Ability to define engineering best practices and mentor team members.
- Practical knowledge of modern web application architecture, JavaScript-driven application flows, and API-driven backends.
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build effective cross-team relationships.
