Responsibilities
- Design and build intelligent AI agents capable of reasoning, planning, tool use, and multi-step task execution.
- Architect and optimize LLM-powered systems through token optimization, cost-efficient inference, prompt engineering, and caching.
- Build and scale advanced RAG pipelines with hybrid search, re-ranking, agentic retrieval, and dynamic knowledge-base integration.
- Develop and maintain MLOps pipelines for model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring at scale.
- Fine-tune and customize foundation models for storage, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise operations use cases.
- Build large-scale, fault-tolerant, low-latency distributed systems for real-time AI inference.
- Contribute to proofs of concept and incubation projects shaping NetApp’s AI/ML roadmap and product vision.
- Explore multimodal AI, edge inference, distributed training, and other unconventional AI architectures.
- Collaborate with engineering, data science, and product teams from problem definition through deployment and early customer support.
- Evaluate emerging AI/ML models, frameworks, and techniques while promoting responsible AI, quality, and timely delivery.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience deploying AI/ML solutions in production.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of Go and front-end frameworks including React, Streamlit, or Gradio.
- Deep expertise in AI agents, LLM integration and optimization, RAG architectures, and modern machine learning frameworks.
- Experience with vector databases, MLOps practices, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud AI/ML services.
- Understanding of classical machine learning and deep learning fundamentals, distributed systems, and software engineering best practices.
- Experience fine-tuning foundation models and developing production-scale AI inference systems.
- Storage or cloud-domain experience is a strong plus.
- Strong communication skills and passion for responsible AI, quality, and meeting deadlines.
