Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain event-driven integrations with Apache Kafka.
- Own schema design, query optimization, migrations, and the PostgreSQL data layer.
- Operate services in containerized cloud-native environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP.
- Maintain code quality through reviews, testing standards, and CI/CD practices.
- Own features end-to-end from requirements through production and ongoing improvement.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and align on solutions.
- Write system design documents, RFCs, and ADRs and participate in architecture discussions.
- Identify and address technical debt proactively and contribute to incident prevention.
- Mentor team members and promote quality and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of commercial Java development experience.
- Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven patterns, and inter-service communication.
- Experience with Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Deep knowledge of JVM internals, including the memory model, garbage collection tuning, concurrency, and performance profiling.
- Hands-on Apache Kafka experience with producers, consumers, consumer groups, offset management, and error handling.
- Strong PostgreSQL skills, including relational modeling, indexing strategy, query plans, and schema migrations.
- Day-to-day production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Maven or Gradle, Git, JIRA, Confluence, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and write clear technical design documents.
- English proficiency at B2+ level.
- Ability to use and critically evaluate AI tools and large language models such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude.
- Kotlin experience, Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, Event Sourcing, gRPC, GraphQL, GCP services, MongoDB, high-throughput systems, or relevant e-commerce, logistics, or fintech experience are nice-to-have qualifications.
