Base Salary
$139k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead an engineering team while remaining accountable for team delivery outcomes, professional growth, and technical system health.
- Perform complex analysis, advanced design, software development, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational monitoring.
- Own technical decisions, system design, delivery cost, technical feasibility, technical debt management, and cross-team integration contracts.
- Partner with product ownership to define outcomes, scope, priorities, and technical trade-offs.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, design reviews, feedback, and deliberate delegation.
- Integrate analytical models from data science and actuarial teams into rating and pricing platforms using BYOM and MLOps patterns.
- Maintain operational artifacts, system status visibility, production readiness, and engineering standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
- Six additional years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership of team efforts.
- Experience with insurance rating systems, rating engines, or pricing platforms.
- Strongly preferred experience with Earnix or a similar rating and pricing platform.
- Familiarity with predictive model development, validation, and deployment in production rating environments.
- Experience or familiarity with MLOps patterns, model registries, or BYOM approaches such as ONNX, Docker, or API-based model serving is a plus.
- Ability to manage technical debt, integration contracts, system design strategy, automated testing, feedback loops, production readiness, and system health monitoring.
- Ability to mentor engineers, communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders, influence priorities, and solve ambiguous problems.
