Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services for Disney’s advertising platforms.
- Develop and maintain modern web applications for advertisers and internal teams.
- Contribute to distributed service architecture, system performance, reliability, resiliency, and observability.
- Collaborate with team members and partner teams to design solutions, estimate work, and drive alignment.
- Write code for new features and service optimization.
- Ensure code quality through testing, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and maintainable engineering practices.
- Participate in stand-ups, scrum ceremonies, on-call rotation, production support, incident investigation, monitoring, and service operations.
- Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
- Define and monitor technical and operational metrics and identify system optimization opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on proficiency with one or more programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Experience with modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing API-driven architectures and integrating model-serving or external services across cloud environments.
- Strong engineering fundamentals in testing, CI/CD, and maintainable code practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred: experience operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Preferred: experience with Spring Boot or similar backend frameworks and React or similar frontend frameworks.
- Preferred: experience with streaming or event-driven systems such as Kafka or Kinesis.
- Preferred: familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Preferred: exposure to high-throughput or low-latency systems.
