Base Salary
$159k - $238k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build automatically scaling infrastructure for connection surges involving up to one million RFID readers.
- Design multi-region resilience, failover, disaster recovery, and cloud outage strategies.
- Write production Rust and TypeScript code for backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Diagnose and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues in distributed systems.
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code, deployment and environment management, secrets and certificate management, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop monitoring, alerting, logging, reporting, and incident-response processes for production systems.
- Build and operate event-driven systems using event sourcing, message queues, and MQTT.
- Own infrastructure and operations, establish scalable engineering practices, and increase team velocity.
- Drive technical strategy, present proposals to engineering, product, and executive leadership, and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.
- Lead adoption of AI tools and practices for building, testing, and operating software.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 12+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience developing production application code and designing and operating cloud infrastructure.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms, containers and orchestration, infrastructure as code, networking, security, and observability.
- Strong understanding of scaling, load management, consistency, and failure modes in distributed systems.
- Demonstrated experience building and operating systems at scale and solving new, ambiguous, or difficult technical problems.
- Demonstrated increasing technical scope and influence, including mentoring engineers and leading initiatives across teams.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve engineering speed and quality.
- Preferred experience with Azure, event sourcing, IoT device fleets, or embedded software.
- Deep expertise in Rust is preferred.
