Base Salary
$175k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build trading and money-movement technology for Betterment’s Broker Dealer platform.
- Design, build, scale, and maintain backend software components and distributed systems.
- Solve backend scaling, software design, efficiency, and optimization challenges.
- Balance delivery of new platform features with system stability and scale.
- Lead cross-team projects and manage tradeoffs to support on-time delivery.
- Mentor and help grow other engineers while contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in at least one object-oriented language.
- Familiarity with writing Java code.
- 5+ years of professional experience with SQL and relational databases, including schema design and detailed SQL queries.
- Strong command of algorithms and data structures.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend software components.
- Ability to lead and manage projects spanning one or more teams while balancing delivery, quality, performance, and security.
