Responsibilities
- Build and maintain critical Linux infrastructure underlying the firm’s technology and production trading systems.
- Complete a mentored project focused on Linux systems and software engineering.
- Investigate performance issues across application, operating system, and hardware layers.
- Fix kernel bugs and troubleshoot firmware or physical hardware issues.
- Build automation for previously manual workflows.
- Participate in real-time operational work, production issue resolution, and comprehensive root-cause analyses.
Requirements
- Knowledge of operating system fundamentals and computer architecture.
- Experience with systems programming concepts such as sockets, virtual memory, and the process life cycle.
- Basic understanding of network protocols.
- Comfort using the Linux command line.
- Ability to troubleshoot Linux systems, processes, logs, and overall system health.
- Ability and willingness to solve problems by writing robust code in any language.
- Intellectual curiosity, collaboration, eagerness to learn, humility, and strong communication skills.
