Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, companywide technology initiatives and influence engineering standards and best practices.
  • Design, code, test, debug, document, and review complex software and technology solutions.
  • Lead projects and teams, mentor peers and junior developers, and operate independently.
  • Make architectural decisions and coordinate developers and QA engineers to deliver deployable code.
  • Develop modernization strategies, identify API needs, and build microservices.
  • Perform code reviews, refine technical requirements, and contribute to engineering communities of practice.
  • Develop standards and practices that increase adoption of agile, DevOps, and cloud-native approaches.
  • Create secure, high-quality production code and architecture and design artifacts.
  • Monitor technology solutions, gather metrics, and resolve complex technical issues with internal and external experts.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design principles and patterns.
  • Experience with Java 11 or later, Java/J2EE web application development, Spring, web services, JMS, Kafka, databases, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with microservices, REST or GraphQL, event-driven architecture, messaging, and API modernization.
  • Experience with code management, continuous integration, automation testing, monitoring, metrics, and DevOps tools and practices.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, including query performance tuning.
  • Experience with front-end single-page applications using HTML5, AngularJS, or ReactJS is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or relevant software development experience is desired.
  • Basic understanding of core banking and experience in the banking domain.
  • Ability to lead a team, work independently, collaborate across technical groups, and contribute to positive team dynamics.
