Base Salary
$173k - $286k/yr
Responsibilities
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable, reusable data models.
- Design, implement, and maintain high-quality batch and real-time data pipelines under defined SLAs.
- Partner with product, analytics, engineering, and business teams to build trusted, documented foundational datasets.
- Champion data strategy, consistency, reliability, and access to core company metrics across teams.
- Identify, document, and promote data engineering best practices across Slack.
- Contribute to GovSlack initiatives supporting government agencies and regulated organizations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, master data management, or metadata management.
- Hands-on expertise with columnar, star schema, snowflake, and dimensional modeling approaches.
- Experience optimizing schemas, tuning SQL, and scaling ETL pipelines in OLAP and data warehouse environments.
- Experience with Airflow or a comparable workflow orchestration platform.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency and willingness to undergo a background check for GovSlack authorization.
- Bonus qualifications include Spark SQL, AWS, Amazon S3, Amazon EMR, Apache Pinot, Hadoop or other big-data ecosystems, Flink, Scala, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and NoSQL data stores.
