Responsibilities
- Own the Rust peer runtime across Windows, Android, Linux, and eventually macOS, including lifecycles, background tasks, networking, updates, and stability.
- Port the peer to Android using NDK/JNI, foreground services, battery optimization handling, and mobile network integrations.
- Integrate Cronet, C++, browserless HTTP clients, and native operating-system APIs through safe, tested Rust FFI libraries.
- Collect hardware, OS, TCP, TLS, and HTTP fingerprint data and share findings with Browser and Antiban teams.
- Build per-device metrics for uptime, drop-off rates, bandwidth, and success rates across the device fleet.
- Add peer support for capabilities such as captcha solving and browser rendering while isolating untrusted pages and hosts.
- Participate in on-call rotation, post-mortems, architectural design, RFDs, and code reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production Rust experience shipping and maintaining software end-to-end.
- Experience shipping Rust across at least two platforms among Windows, macOS, and Android, including at least one mobile platform.
- Hands-on FFI experience with C/C++ libraries and native OS APIs such as JNI/NDK, Win32, and POSIX.
- Deep packet-level knowledge of TCP, TLS, and HTTP and the ability to analyze client fingerprints and network traffic.
- Experience instrumenting systems, measuring fleet health, and supporting on-call operational excellence.
- Security-conscious approach to running code on third-party devices.
- Excellent written communication for distributed, remote-first collaboration.
- Curiosity about reverse engineering protocols, binaries, and complex systems.
- Preferred: residential network, proxy, peer-to-peer, or device-farm experience.
- Preferred: Chromium, Cronet, Firefox networking, or anti-detection experience.
- Preferred: distributed systems experience designing schedulers, orchestrators, or control planes.
- Preferred: web scraping experience at scale and open-source contributions in Rust, networking, or mobile communities.
