Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of Sonatype’s developer platform, personas, and core Jobs To Be Done.
- Co-create user flows, experience direction, information architecture, developer workflows, permissions models, and multi-product interaction patterns with PMs and engineers.
- Create user, product, and system flow diagrams in Miro.
- Shape conceptual designs and UX architectures for new features and iterative improvements.
- Build coded UX prototypes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Claude Code, VS Code, and GitHub workflows.
- Structure prototypes so AI tools can generate engineering specifications, scope definitions, and implementation requirements from code diffs.
- Conduct lightweight interviews, surveys, usability testing, UAT, and quick validation when appropriate.
- Facilitate design sessions, provide UX reviews and guidance, coach engineers on UX fundamentals and accessibility, and contribute to the UX Guild and design-system alignment.
Requirements
- Significant experience designing enterprise software or developer platforms, typically 10–15+ years.
- Deep collaboration experience with engineers; hybrid UX and engineering experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with lightweight research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability tests, and UAT.
- Comfort building working UX prototypes with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
- Familiarity with GitHub, version control, IDE and AI code-editor pairings, and AI-assisted prototyping workflows.
- Strong UX judgment in complex technical domains and the ability to simplify experiences within technical constraints.
- Clear communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Curiosity about AI and willingness to use it for structure, exploration, prototyping, and iteration.
