Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services and APIs supporting trading, clearing, settlement, and reporting workflows for LATAM markets.
- Own features through requirements refinement, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Build integrations with exchanges, clearinghouses, market data providers, and internal global platforms using FIX, REST, messaging, and file-based protocols.
- Develop data pipelines and reconciliation processes for regulatory and internal reporting.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, ADRs, runbooks, integration specifications, and build-versus-buy evaluations.
- Improve observability, automated testing, CI/CD maturity, and operational automation across owned services.
- Participate in code reviews and establish standards for code quality, security, and performance.
- Support production incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive follow-up.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and serve as a technical reference for a domain or set of services.
- Coordinate with distributed teams across the US, UK, and Asia across time zones and in English.
Requirements
- Professional software engineering experience with demonstrated senior-level ownership of production systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one of C#/.NET, Java, or Python, plus working knowledge of a second language.
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, including query tuning and data modeling, with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and integrating distributed systems, with familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQ, and event-driven patterns.
- Cloud experience with AWS or Azure and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing, and monitoring or observability tooling.
- Professional working proficiency in English and fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience in financial services, capital markets, brokerage, clearing, asset management, exchanges, or fintech.
- Preferred knowledge of trading lifecycles, post-trade operations, market data, risk, FIX protocol, LATAM market structure, and financial reporting or reconciliation pipelines.
- Preferred experience with Terraform, performance- and latency-sensitive system design, and global matrixed organizations.
