Base Salary
$120k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain user-facing products and backend systems.
- Evolve backend architecture with attention to scalability and performance.
- Own production services, including observability, on-call responsibilities, and incident debugging.
- Collaborate with product, operations, leadership, and engineering teams to align solutions with business needs.
- Drive engineering practices through code review, testing, and documentation.
- Build products across tenant screening, rent reporting, CRM, platform services, integrations, or production AI agents depending on focus area.
- For AI-focused work, build agent prompts, tools, memory, retrieval, orchestration, evaluations, observability, and feedback loops.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional web development experience.
- Strong backend development skills, preferably with the ability to work across the stack.
- Experience with Ruby or a similar backend language and the ability to ramp up quickly on the company’s stack.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, including OAuth flows, webhooks, rate limits, and idempotency.
- Production service ownership experience, including observability, on-call rotations, and incident debugging.
- Daily use of AI coding agents and experience shipping code with them, including Claude Code.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Comfort setting direction in an early-stage environment with shifting priorities and incomplete context.
- Empathy for low-to-moderate-income renters and interest in building socially meaningful products.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AWS, Terraform, developer-facing APIs and tooling, MCP tools, production LLM features or agents, Anthropic or OpenAI APIs, tool use, structured outputs, RAG, multi-step planning, evaluation suites, voice AI stacks, vector stores, retrieval pipelines, and secure-by-default development.
