Base Salary
$166k - $272k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with Platform Engineering and engineering teams on platform and infrastructure technology decisions.
- Develop platform architecture roadmaps, reference architectures, standards, architecture decision records, guardrails, paved roads, and golden paths.
- Guide architecture for cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, serverless technologies, databases, networking, observability, CI/CD, developer tooling, secrets management, identity, and shared engineering services.
- Apply FinOps principles by analyzing cloud and technology costs, service utilization, architectural patterns, cost drivers, and total cost of ownership.
- Evaluate build, buy, extend, customize, and deprecate options for platform and infrastructure technologies.
- Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance for major platform initiatives, modernization efforts, migrations, and technology lifecycle management.
- Shape multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud strategies, workload placement guidance, resilience patterns, automation, platform APIs, and operational excellence practices.
- Mentor architects and engineers and contribute to the maturity of the Enterprise Architecture practice.
- Help shape AI and automation toolsets and practices for engineering workflows, developer experience, platform operations, and architecture.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, cloud architecture, or enterprise architecture roles.
- 15+ years of relevant work experience is listed for the role.
- Deep experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native architecture, CI/CD, observability, databases, networking, infrastructure automation, and security-by-design.
- Experience designing and evolving large-scale cloud, hybrid-cloud, or datacenter-based platforms.
- Strong understanding of resiliency engineering, SLOs, observability, platform security, identity, and secrets management.
- Experience creating architecture roadmaps, standards, reference architectures, and build-versus-buy evaluations.
- Experience applying FinOps principles, including cloud cost analysis, service utilization assessment, workload optimization, technology cost modeling, and total cost of ownership analysis.
- Ability to correlate cloud spending with services, architectural patterns, and platform usage and evaluate cost-impacting alternatives.
- Ability to communicate with engineers, architects, engineering managers, and senior technology leaders.
- Experience leading architecture reviews and converting ambiguous technical challenges into recommendations and execution plans.
- Experience in large-scale distributed environments such as AdTech, FinTech, Telecom, media technology, SaaS, or marketplace platforms.
- Experience with platform engineering, internal developer platforms, AI-enabled engineering tooling, or developer productivity initiatives is a bonus.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred; coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience may also be considered.
