Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for custom CPUs, including Linux kernel software, boot firmware, low-level libraries, drivers, and debugging tools.
  • Optimize existing software and operating systems for performance, efficiency, and security.
  • Enable new architectural features and develop software virtual platforms for pre-silicon and hardware environments.
  • Define future high-performance SoCs and platforms with hardware, software, and performance teams.
  • Identify hardware optimization opportunities and create platform optimizations and drivers.
  • Work independently, communicate complex information to diverse audiences, and influence organizational decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field with 4+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 3+ years or a PhD with 2+ years.
  • At least 2 years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture, high-performance designs, weak memory models, server platforms, and hardware/software interfaces.
  • Proficiency in C, assembly language, build systems, and systems programming with Python or similar languages.
  • Experience developing software virtual platforms, low-level boot firmware, and debugging tools before and after silicon availability.
  • Experience building to UEFI, ACPI, and SystemReady platform standards.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and 10–15+ years of experience building software stacks for high-performance systems, including 10+ years of Linux kernel development.
