Responsibilities
- Define the architecture and multi-year roadmap for a multi-cloud, cell-based Kubernetes fleet scaling to thousands of clusters.
- Design Kubernetes-native control planes, including controllers, operators, CRDs, and policies, for self-service compute, networking, and cloud resources.
- Improve platform reliability and security through blast-radius reduction, progressive rollouts, SLOs, workload isolation, and compliance support such as FedRAMP.
- Lead compute efficiency initiatives involving autoscaling, bin packing, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
- Build the Kubernetes-based AI/ML infrastructure ecosystem, including GPU compute, high-bandwidth networking, and parallel filesystems for training and inference.
- Lead engineers across multiple teams, drive cross-team initiatives from design to launch, influence technical and product leaders, establish architectural standards, and mentor senior engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale cloud infrastructure or platform-as-a-service systems.
- Deep hands-on Kubernetes expertise in production at scale, including Kubernetes internals, networking, multi-tenancy, operators, and CRDs.
- Strong experience with AWS and/or GCP, including EKS or GKE, and distributed-systems design.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
- Platform engineering experience with Infrastructure as Code, GitOps/CD, and observability, including tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, or ArgoCD.
- Track record of leading technical direction across teams, with strong communication and mentoring skills.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes fleet management, cell-based architectures, sandboxing, regulated environments, AI/ML infrastructure, GPU clusters, high-bandwidth networking, parallel filesystems, or CNCF open-source contributions.
Benefits
- Eligible candidates can work remotely across India from home, an office, or another location through Atlassian’s TEAM Anywhere model.
- The role is based within the Bengaluru organization and supports work across multi-cloud, regulated, and globally distributed environments.
