Base Salary
$160k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain auto-scaling AWS systems supporting more than 1.5 billion monthly page views.
- Maximize uptime and respond rapidly to performance degradation, service outages, and production incidents.
- Scale, maintain, and troubleshoot sharded MySQL databases and Vespa.ai search infrastructure.
- Build zero-downtime deployment pipelines using Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, and CodeBuild.
- Maintain production-parity development environments and automate resource provisioning and configuration management.
- Implement automated testing and maintain clear infrastructure documentation.
- Enforce security protocols, perform patch management, and defend against targeted DDoS attacks.
- Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization to control infrastructure costs.
- Participate in a three-engineer 24/7 on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience working with systems at scale in DevOps, platform engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across frontend and backend systems, including during outages and performance degradation.
- Exceptional command-line Linux skills.
- Deep knowledge of AWS, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Experience building Docker images and composing Helm charts.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash for scripting and automation.
- Experience with sharded MySQL databases.
- Experience applying security compliance standards to large-scale web infrastructure and knowledge of DDoS mitigation strategies.
- Ability to identify potential issues proactively and prevent downtime or performance degradation.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including explaining technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
- Experience with GitOps tools and methodologies is preferred.
