Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services using NestJS, Node.js, TypeScript, and/or Python.
- Own API design, contracts, and versioning across services.
- Design and optimize data models, database schemas, and query performance.
- Implement authentication, authorization, secure API integrations, caching, data-fetching layers, queues, jobs, and events.
- Lead backend technical decisions, architecture, code quality standards, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
- Ensure scalability, fault tolerance, observability, logging, monitoring, alerting, testing, CI/CD, and deployment practices.
- Collaborate on React, TypeScript, and Vite frontend applications and align API contracts, data shapes, performance, and UX constraints.
- Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions with product and design partners.
- Use and evaluate AI coding tools, including Cursor, Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT, and improve AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of full-stack or backend engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS; Python or an equivalent backend framework is also welcomed.
- Solid working proficiency in React and modern frontend fundamentals including HTML and CSS.
- Experience designing scalable backend architectures, data models, APIs, authentication flows, and distributed systems.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and query optimization.
- Strong understanding of system performance, reliability, and security best practices.
- Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing and observability tooling.
- Hands-on experience using AI development tools and validating, debugging, and improving AI-generated code.
- Understanding of prompt engineering for engineering workflows and ability to work effectively in fast-iteration environments.
- Strong product and technical intuition with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience includes data platforms, analytics products, BI tools, large-scale data processing, streaming or real-time data patterns, query optimization, or LLM API integrations.
