Responsibilities

  • Own the developer bring-up path across supported SoCs through reference applications, board support, samples, quickstarts, and integration documentation.
  • Port and maintain the Hubble SDK across Zephyr, nRF Connect SDK, ESP-IDF, and vendor SDKs while creating reusable abstractions for additional chip families.
  • Bring up new hardware end to end, including schematic review, RF checks, antenna tuning, conducted power measurement, and first satellite packet transmission.
  • Develop device-side firmware updates, remote configuration, command handling, staged rollouts, and rollback behavior over intermittent satellite links.
  • Build constrained-device diagnostics, logging, fleet-health visibility, and self-service tooling for developers.
  • Extend hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure with self-hosted CI runners, board provisioning, device detection, flashing, reset control, serial instrumentation, and RF instrumentation.
  • Create pytest and Twister test suites covering SDK samples, integrations, OTA flows, and power behavior across the board matrix.
  • Develop reporting and historical trend analysis so engineers can diagnose failed builds quickly.
  • Contribute to gateway-side and mobile SDK hardware-in-the-loop work, including shielded-room RF isolation and Android/iOS device orchestration.
  • Collaborate with vendors, development-board partners, marketing, platform and data teams, embedded validation, RF engineering, and space operations.
  • Represent Hubble in the open-source embedded community and contribute upstream where appropriate.
  • Advocate for developer experience by identifying and removing customer-facing friction.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of deep hands-on C firmware experience supporting or shipping production embedded systems on Bluetooth Low Energy-capable silicon.
  • Substantial Zephyr RTOS experience, including devicetree, Kconfig, west, out-of-tree modules, and board porting.
  • Familiarity with at least one of nRF Connect SDK, ESP-IDF, or TI SimpleLink.
  • Experience building automated embedded test infrastructure with CI on real hardware, pytest and/or Twister, self-hosted runners, and test reporting.
  • Understanding of OTA update mechanisms, power optimization, and memory-constrained environments.
  • Experience with CMake, Make, embedded build systems, and cross-compilation toolchains for constrained targets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create developer-facing technical content.
  • Experience working directly with external developers or customers through support, enablement, developer relations, technical content, or field bring-up.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency as defined by ITAR.
  • Preferred: upstream Zephyr contributions or active embedded open-source involvement.
  • Preferred: public technical writing, talks, or demos for embedded developers.
  • Preferred: experience with IoT platforms, device management or fleet tooling, asset tracking, or connectivity products at scale.
  • Preferred: RF fundamentals including link budgets, antenna tuning, and EIRP measurement.
  • Preferred: cryptographic knowledge and experience with PSA or TF-M.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and HSA options
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Commuter benefits if working from headquarters
  • Learning and development allowance
  • Health and wellness stipend
  • Sabbatical program
  • Opportunity to work on state-of-the-art satellite systems

About Hubble Network

11-50 employees

Hubble Network just became the first company in history to connect a Bluetooth chip to a satellite… Founded by a team of experts in wireless communications, space, and industrial IoT applications, Hubble Network is creating a global satellite network that any Bluetooth-enabled device can connect to, regardless of cellular reception. Through this unbelievable technology, Hubble Network is primed to shake up entire industries by finally delivering a global network and platform for actionable real-world data acquisition. The applications of this technology are far-reaching: container & pallet tracking, wildfire detection, energy grid monitoring, heavy equipment, tool tracking, fleet management, logistics, predictive maintenance, safety for children, fall detection for the elderly, agricultural technology, & environmental monitoring to name a few. ------------------------ We have confirmed communication, validating our unbelievable technology and successfully kicking off their global satellite network, after launching satellites on SpaceX T-10 in Q1 2024. Moving forward, any device with a Bluetooth chip can have the ability to connect to our global satellite network. We aim to connect a billion devices, establishing the world’s first global, cost-efficient, and low-power network.
