Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of the Forge Cognition edge computing initiative as a senior developer.
- Define and own architecture patterns for distributed, resource-constrained, and disconnected or intermittently connected environments.
- Architect and operationalize workloads on Google Distributed Cloud across edge and hosted environments.
- Design, build, and scale Kubernetes-based deployments across edge and cloud environments.
- Lead cloud and hybrid architecture for scalability and resilience.
- Build and maintain Ansible automation for provisioning, configuration management, and distributed fleet operations.
- Develop core services, tooling, and integrations in Python.
- Architect IoT device connectivity, telemetry ingestion, data pipelines, and device lifecycle management solutions.
- Enhance platform engineering and developer enablement through reusable templates, self-service workflows, deployment guardrails, documentation, and automation.
- Participate in and lead architecture review boards, providing technical guidance and best-practice recommendations.
- Partner with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to ensure solutions are secure, observable, and production-ready.
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on software development experience with deep technical ownership of edge computing and distributed systems.
- Experience designing architectures for resource-constrained and disconnected or intermittently connected environments.
- Experience with Google Distributed Cloud, Kubernetes-based deployments, and cloud or hybrid architectures.
- Experience with cloud platforms including Azure, GCP, and Alibaba.
- Experience building Ansible-based automation for provisioning, configuration management, and fleet operations.
- Proficiency developing services, tooling, and integrations in Python.
- Experience with IoT device connectivity, telemetry ingestion, data pipelines, and device lifecycle management.
- Ability to lead architecture reviews, influence across teams, mentor engineers, and provide technical guidance.
- Ability to deliver secure, observable, scalable, and production-ready software solutions.
