Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate scalable backend services for messaging capabilities.
- Improve existing messaging functionality within the PHP monolith and migrate to Node.js and TypeScript microservices.
- Analyze legacy code and define service boundaries and migration strategies.
- Design agent-ready APIs for AI agents and external integrations.
- Build secure integrations with communication providers like Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
- Develop capabilities for customer-managed inboxes and messaging automation.
- Design APIs, background jobs, and event-driven workflows.
- Enhance email authentication and deliverability processes.
- Contribute to front-end development for messaging configuration and monitoring.
- Improve automated testing and observability across services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Mentor other engineers and review code.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong backend development skills with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Working knowledge of PHP for troubleshooting and enhancing legacy code.
- Experience modernizing legacy applications into microservices.
- Expertise in designing REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and scalable backend architecture.
- Hands-on experience with secure integrations using OAuth 2.0.
- Proficiency with AWS or another major cloud platform.
- Familiarity with messaging and email technologies.
- Experience building AI-powered applications is a plus.
- Solid understanding of automated testing and CI/CD best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher English proficiency.
