Senior Software Developer (VDB)
Black Canyon ConsultingResponsibilities
- Develop, implement, test, and maintain the VDB Library, SRA Toolkit, and related projects.
- Develop cloud-ready tools and pipelines that support sustainable scalability and use by collaborators and scientists.
- Learn new technologies, maintain familiarity with internal systems, and share knowledge with the team.
- Lead other developers.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in object-oriented programming using C++.
- Programming experience in a Linux environment.
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies including EC2, S3, and Lambda.
- Experience with GCP cloud technologies including GKE, Google Store, and Cloud Functions.
- Fluency in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python.
- Ability to work with JSON and similar structured document formats.
- Experience with network programming and multithreaded programming.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience with open-source projects and Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing.
- Bonus: at least 5 years of experience working with genetic and biological data.
- Bonus: active involvement in open-source communities such as GitHub.
- Bonus: experience with multiplatform development using POSIX and WinAPI.
- Bonus: experience with Docker, flex/bison parsing tools, and domain-specific language design and implementation.
