Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production-grade backend services using Python.
- Implement and integrate REST APIs for internal and external consumers.
- Work with AWS cloud services and established architecture guidelines.
- Build and support batch, streaming, or near real-time data processing flows.
- Integrate backend services with external systems, third-party APIs, and AI inference services.
- Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Contribute to the Flutter mobile application for up to approximately 20% of the time.
- Use deployment pipelines, versioning, and environment-management processes in collaboration with DevOps teams.
- Apply logging, monitoring, and observability practices to support production systems.
- Debug and resolve production issues, collaborating with senior engineers on complex cross-service problems.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code focused on performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with mobile, Product, DevOps, and other engineering teams and participate in planning and estimation.
- Flag risks, blockers, and technical dependencies early.
Requirements
- Professional experience as a Backend Engineer with solid hands-on Python experience.
- Experience contributing to production-grade backend services and implementing or integrating REST APIs.
- Practical Flutter and mobile application development experience, with willingness to contribute part time to mobile features.
- Practical experience with AWS cloud services and relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of incoming data streams, batch processing, or near real-time data flows.
- Familiarity with deployment processes, versioning, CI/CD pipelines, and logging, monitoring, and observability tools.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, collaboration, accountability, and attention to code quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Comfort working in agile teams and adapting to changing priorities.
- Regular use of AI tools, including responsible prompt structuring, output validation, and ownership of final results.
- Preferred experience with event-driven architectures, queues, messaging systems, asynchronous processing, AI inference or machine-learning APIs, mobile app publishing, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, orchestration tools, or Go.
- Preferred exposure to systems where reliability, observability, and production support are important.
