Responsibilities
- Own meaningful product areas from problem framing and prototyping through production rollout and iteration.
- Partner with product, design, data, and clinical teams to shape solutions that improve member outcomes and business results.
- Build and evolve secure, well-tested, observable software across backend, frontend, and data surfaces.
- Use data, experimentation, and user feedback to validate solutions and drive iteration.
- Operate autonomously across globally distributed teams and functions while communicating proactively.
- Balance speed, safety, technical quality, and maintainability in a regulated environment.
- Improve Pelago’s AI-native engineering practices, testing, documentation, knowledge sharing, and review quality.
Requirements
- Strong production experience building product software in a startup or scale-up environment.
- Excellent TypeScript and Node capability with comfort across APIs, services, data, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong product sense and the ability to begin with user or business problems rather than implementation details.
- Ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous environments and make sound trade-offs with incomplete information.
- Solid testing, observability, and reliability instincts.
- Fluency with AI-augmented engineering workflows while maintaining human judgment and QA discipline.
- Healthcare, digital health, or safety-sensitive regulated software experience is preferred.
- Experience with event-driven systems, serverless AWS, relational database design, infrastructure as code, experimentation, analytics, growth or product instrumentation, backend and user-facing product surfaces, or 0-to-1 product development is preferred.
