Base Salary
$170k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve Axle Health’s AWS cloud infrastructure while balancing security, scalability, cost, and developer velocity.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines with code scanning, secret detection, and dependency vulnerability controls.
- Lead infrastructure-as-code initiatives using Terraform or equivalent tools across development, staging, and production.
- Implement HIPAA-compliant infrastructure security practices, including PHI encryption, audit logging, BAA management, and access controls.
- Manage Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration, image hardening, pod security, and least-privilege configurations.
- Build centralized logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident-response capabilities using tools such as Datadog.
- Implement secrets management with AWS Secrets Manager or HashiCorp Vault.
- Maintain WAF, DDoS protection, TLS certificate management, and network segmentation controls.
- Enforce environment parity and prevent configuration drift across environments.
- Coordinate penetration testing, remediation tracking, and patch management.
- Support disaster recovery planning, backup validation, and HIPAA-aligned risk assessment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or site reliability engineering, ideally at a growth-stage company.
- Deep expertise with AWS, including IAM, VPC, ECS or EKS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and related HIPAA-eligible services.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation, including template security auditing and state management across environments.
- Experience implementing code scanning, secret detection, SAST/DAST, and dependency vulnerability checks in CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience hardening Docker and Kubernetes environments, scanning images, and enforcing runtime policies.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA technical safeguards, PHI encryption, audit logging, and Business Associate Agreements.
- Strong operational practices, including runbook writing, on-call hygiene, and structured incident postmortems.
- Healthcare technology or other compliance-heavy industry experience such as SOC 2, FedRAMP, or PCI DSS is preferred.
- Familiarity with Datadog or similar observability platforms is preferred.
- Experience coordinating penetration tests or red team/blue team exercises is preferred.
- Experience maintaining HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager at scale is preferred.
- Security documentation, internal training, and secure-by-default engineering advocacy are preferred.
