Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of AI-powered decision-making and planning applications for R&D.
- Apply deep expertise in Python or Java backend engineering, software architecture, API design, document ingestion, retrieval patterns, text embeddings, and retrieval-oriented workloads.
- Use AI-assisted engineering with rigorous review to deliver durable and scalable software.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers.
- Design and implement unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies for knowledge-management systems.
- Establish security best practices and compliance standards for audit-ready systems.
- Optimize performance and scalability for growing data volumes and user demand.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and scientific teams to translate complex needs into practical solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and knowledge repositories.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in Python or Java backend engineering.
- Demonstrable experience in software architecture and API design.
- Demonstrable experience with document ingestion, retrieval patterns, text embeddings, and retrieval-oriented workloads.
- Demonstrable experience with AI-assisted engineering and rigorous review practices.
- Awareness of React or Angular.
- Experience with quality and documentation standards.
- Proven mentorship and team leadership experience with junior and mid-level engineers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Bonus experience in agriculture, life sciences, scientific computing, regulated enterprise environments, knowledge-management systems, enterprise content management, information-retrieval platforms, compliance frameworks, cloud platforms, and scalable performance optimization.
