Responsibilities
- Architect and lead Benchling ELN integrations with LIMS, EDC, and data warehouse systems.
- Design and govern Benchling entity schemas, assay schemas, registry structures, and workflow configurations.
- Develop automation workflows using the Benchling Apps Framework, REST API, and event-driven webhooks.
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines connecting Benchling with Snowflake, Databricks, AWS S3, and other platforms.
- Ensure solutions meet 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP requirements and lead IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities.
- Translate scientific workflows into compliant technical solutions with scientists, QA, and IT stakeholders.
- Define Benchling coding standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
- Mentor junior developers and act as the organization’s internal Benchling subject matter expert.
Requirements
- At least 7.5 years of experience is required; the detailed qualifications specify 10+ years of software development experience and 3+ years of Benchling ELN implementation experience in pharma or biotech.
- Expert Python proficiency, including the Benchling Python SDK and REST API development.
- Deep knowledge of Benchling entities, notebooks, assay results, schema registry, and workflow configurations.
- Experience delivering GxP-compliant systems under 21 CFR Part 11 and computer system validation frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and data pipeline tools such as Airflow or Prefect.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks.
- Experience with LIMS platforms such as LabVantage, STARLIMS, or Veeva Vault is preferred.
- Familiarity with IDMP, structured data standards, regulatory submission data packages, and bioinformatics data types is preferred.
- Benchling administrator certification or equivalent platform expertise is preferred.
- Experience supporting IND, NDA, or BLA submissions with lab-data traceability and audit-trail requirements is preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in a cross-functional pharmaceutical R&D environment.
