Responsibilities
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software for complex distributed systems.
- Own production reliability, scalability, resilience, infrastructure dependencies, traffic patterns, capacity constraints, and failure modes.
- Define and drive SLOs, SLIs, observability standards, chaos testing, and capacity planning.
- Develop functional and destructive test suites to support rapid and reliable production deployments.
- Lead incident learning and systemic prevention efforts to ensure services withstand real-world conditions at scale.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to make user stories developer-ready, understandable, and testable.
- Answer questions from product and engineering teams and participate in agile processes.
- Mentor junior engineers on modern software development frameworks and lead technical discussions.
- Identify team gaps and recommend changes to improve productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- At least 5 years of experience leveraging BigQuery for reporting and decision-making data.
- At least 5 years of experience building REST APIs for production code deployment.
- At least 5 years of experience defining and driving SLOs, SLIs, observability standards, chaos testing, and capacity planning.
- At least 5 years of experience using Python scripting to write services.
- At least 5 years of experience using Shell scripting to automate services.
- At least 5 years of experience using Unix, Linux, and Windows commands for reliability engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience using Google Cloud to ensure service reliability.
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally permitted to work in the United States.
