Responsibilities
- Improve service delivery and reliability across the full service lifecycle.
- Measure and monitor production systems for availability, latency, and system health.
- Investigate errors and instability in production cloud services and drive operational excellence.
- Partner with product and platform teams to improve reliability, resilience, and observability.
- Identify and reduce operational toil through innovation and automation.
- Participate in standby, on-call, or off-hours duties.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and operating observability systems for complex cloud-based platforms.
- Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible, with Cloud SDK experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably AWS and Azure, and container and orchestration technologies.
- Experience with APM and observability tools such as New Relic, Splunk, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana/Kibana, and Sentry.
- Extensive experience with enterprise-scale continuous delivery environments.
- Development experience with JavaScript, Node.js, and TypeScript in Linux or Mac environments.
- Experience with sustainable incident response in a blameless environment and related tools such as PagerDuty, FireHydrant, and Blameless.
- Background in Linux systems engineering.
- Knowledge of cloud and application security best practices and cloud design patterns for scale, data management, and resiliency.
- Strong autonomy, distributed-team collaboration, quality focus, testing skills, and familiarity with business metrics and SLOs.
