Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, review, and deliver extensible, secure, accessible, and performant Web UI solutions.
- Own complex product features end to end, including identifying risks, managing dependencies, and driving delivery strategies.
- Lead architecture and technical design for large-scale frontend features, reusable UI components, frameworks, and engineering patterns.
- Mentor and coach engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and leading by example.
- Apply AI-assisted development responsibly across requirements, design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Drive frontend performance, accessibility, reliability, maintainability, privacy, security, compliance, and developer-experience improvements.
- Plan and evaluate releases using experimentation, feature flags, flighting, success metrics, and guardrail metrics.
- Deploy changes safely through staged rollouts, monitoring, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, and rollback plans.
- Act as a designated responsible individual during live-site incidents, communicate status, drive mitigation, and reduce recurring incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Production experience developing web applications with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, testing, and version control.
- Experience designing, debugging, and maintaining reliable, maintainable software.
- Strong experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, state-management technologies, and modern frontend build and testing frameworks.
- Experience architecting large-scale modular web applications and reusable component libraries.
- Knowledge of frontend performance optimization, browser behavior, responsive design, telemetry, experimentation, and WCAG and inclusive-design standards.
- Experience with Azure, distributed services, REST APIs, or GraphQL integrations.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, feature flighting, and safe deployment practices.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across UI, API, and data layers, plus effective cross-functional communication and ownership of complex technical problems.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security-screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- A master's degree with 6+ years of technical engineering experience is also listed as a preferred qualification.
