Responsibilities
- Lead the design of significant components of modern digital service platforms, including automation, build, deployment, and support.
- Design, build, test, automate, monitor, and support significant platform components in production environments.
- Apply public cloud, configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, container orchestration, and automation tooling to solve business problems.
- Implement continuous delivery processes for releasing software to production.
- Create scalable, resilient, efficient, secure, performant, cost-effective designs that minimise vendor lock-in.
- Contribute to architecture, technical decisions, estimation, product planning, user story and requirement creation, and MVP advocacy.
- Debug complex problems across multiple servers, services, and tools.
- Support live production operations and continuously improve service availability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, testing, consulting, product management, and security teams.
- Coach and mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Significant expertise using multiple configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, automation, and infrastructure tools.
- Fluency in at least one of PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, or Groovy.
- Demonstrable experience designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring, and supporting modern digital service platform components in production.
- Experience using public cloud platforms, specifically AWS or Azure.
- Experience applying configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and container orchestration tooling.
- Experience with modern version control systems, including Git.
- Experience applying security, elasticity, performance, and other industry best practices across infrastructure and application components.
- Ability to contribute to technical decisions and direction in collaborative multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong teamwork, verbal communication, and written communication skills, including communication with non-technical audiences.
- Desirable: third-level or equivalent qualification in a related discipline.
- Desirable: mid-level certification with a public cloud provider such as AWS or Azure.
- Desirable: experience with cloud-native SaaS and PaaS technologies.
- Desirable: experience managing, mentoring, and coaching junior staff.
